New FTA appointment set to boost VIS service

FTA has reinforced its commitment to health, safety and well-being, by announcing the appointment of Mick Parcell as its new Head of VIS Health & Safety and Engineering Improvement.

FTA’s Director of Operations, Chris Lipscomb, said: “FTA’s VIS team provides a blue riband service for our members, and Mick’s appointment will strengthen our commitment to the continuous improvement of the work we do for our members, as well as for our team of highly-qualified engineers. Mick’s experience, gained working with some of the UK’s biggest brand names, will bolster our VIS management team and ensure that the service remains the industry leader in on-site inspections for vehicles of all sizes.”

Having qualified as an automotive engineer, Parcell joined British Airways (BA) where he helped to maintain its 3,500-strong fleet of ground support equipment. Following BA, Parcell undertook a safety role with Babcock International, having obtained a diploma in workplace health and safety. For the past six years he has worked for the UK’s leading electrical certification body NICEIC, where he attained chartered member status with the Institute of Safety & Health and held the position of Group Health & Safety Manager.

Reflecting on his new role, Parcell said: “I am thrilled to be joining FTA and becoming part of this essential service which provides such vital support to the organisation’s members.
