Leon Daniels named as new President of CILT(UK)
The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in the UK – CILT(UK) – has announced that Leon Daniels OBE will be its new President for 2023.
An experienced transport professional with a proven track record in delivery and performance in senior roles in both private and public sector organisations, Daniels has been a Vice-President of CILT(UK) for three years and has worked in public transportation in the UK, Hong Kong and the USA.
He was Managing Director, Surface Transport at Transport for London (TfL) for seven years, overseeing the delivery of the transport for the London 2012 Olympic Games as well as a major capital investment programme. Retiring from TfL in 2017, Daniels now advises global governments and organisations in the fields of artificial intelligence, public affairs and technology and has been Chair of the ITT Hub conference since 2019, for which Logistics UK is the strategic partner.
Commenting on his appointment, Daniels said: “It’s such a fantastic honour to be named as President of CILT(UK) for 2023. As a member of CILT for nearly 30 years, I recognise the importance of an active professional community for those working in the disciplines of logistics and transport and it is a huge privilege to serve as its President. As a professional body, we have a responsibility to develop our profession and our members, and I look forward to working with the board of directors and Vice-Presidents to promote CILT and support members in their career aspirations.”

Logistics UK is working in close partnership with CILT to lead the industry-wide skills campaign Generation Logistics, designed to shift perceptions of working within the logistics sector, and also shares office space in central London with the professional body.
Daniels' one-year presidency began on 1 January 2023.
