Month in the media – April 2023

The press office has dealt with a variety of issues during April, and the team has ensured Logistics UK and the views of its members continue to maintain a significant presence in the headlines.

By maintaining and building strong relationships with the media, and providing timely responses to issues, the team has generated significant coverage on topics such as the situation at the Port of Dover at the beginning of the Easter bank holiday weekend, the CPTPP trade deal and low and zero emission vehicles.  Between 31 March and 25 April, the team achieved 652 items of editorial coverage, creating the opportunity for 132 million people to see Logistics UK and its messages.

The piece was repeated several times and extracts were subsequently quoted in over 500 national and regional publications, including The Guardian, The Independent, Daily Mail, Evening Standard and The Sun.

CPTPP TRADE DEAL

Logistics UK took part in interviews on GB News and LBC News regarding the announcement of the new UK trade deal with the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) and what it will mean for UK trade and logistics.

LOW AND ZERO EMISSION VEHICLES

An interview on the potential role of hydrogen and other low or zero emission technologies was published by CNBC and several other news outlets.

THE MONTH AHEAD

Over the next month, the Logistics UK media team will be focusing on policy-related issues such as Retained EU Law and the Border Operating Model. The team will also be working on promotion of Logistics UK’s new events programme for 2023, with particular focus on the Future Logistics Conference at ITT Hub on 10-11 May and Fleet Engineer on 22 June, as well as the launch of the Logistics Awards 2023.

GOT A STORY?

If you're keen to speak to the media about a pressing issue – from skills shortages to fuel costs, urban restrictions to future logistics – or to highlight some of the great work your organisation is doing, we would love to hear from you.

We are also keen to hear from those with personal achievements to shout about – maybe moving a very unusual load, staff members who have received special awards or with unusual hobbies or expertise.

And, as always, the media is keen to talk to women working across the industry – we are particularly on the lookout for female drivers who are happy to talk to the press. Please contact Freya, Lauren or Jackie in the media team at press.office@logistics.org.uk – we look forward to hearing from you!
