The day the Torch Relay came to Tunbridge Wells

FTA was abuzz with excitement yesterday as the Olympic Torch made its way to Tunbridge Wells, home of our head office.

Staff really got into the spirit of the day with some dressing up in sports-themed attire and others generously bringing in homemade cakes for the charity bake sale to raise money to help Meadows School buy some sports equipment.

As it neared 11am, a sea of FTA staff lined the streets to wave the famous torch along its route.

As everyone got their spot, the pavements got busier and busier with what seemed like the whole town coming out to cheer along the flame and its town runners.

As the roads began to close the crowd were whipped into a frenzy by the sponsors' buses, before the first sighting of the torch caused more cheering and applause. Everyone tried to catch a glipse of the flame before it was gone, off on its way to the Olympic Opening Ceremony in just over a week.
