Liberal Democrat Transport Hub eventThe Transport Hub 2011 closed the Liberal Democrat leg of its conference journey on Tuesday evening with a standing-room-only discussion of the future of high-speed rail.

Whatever the reticence held in some quarters towards the Government’s flagship project, it was clear that this audience of industry figures, journalists and Lib Dems was overwhelmingly in favour of making the investment needed to provide Britain with 21st Century connectivity.

This was just one of the many vital issues discussed at fringe events throughout the Lib Dem conference, held this week in Birmingham. Fringe events on topics ranging from fairer fuel, sustainable transport, tax on aviation, the Freedoms Bill and more were discussed at 10 popular and diverse events. These events drew a wealth of interest from journalists, lobbying organisations and of course grass roots Liberal Democrats.

The Transport Hub opens up again on Sunday evening with the Labour party in Liverpool’s ACC. We look forward to seeing you there.
