Van Inspections

FTA's Van Inspection Service offers a range of inspections encompassing a variety of different examination areas including; roadworthiness, maintenance, topside, weight checks, ancillary equipment and pre-contract extension inspections. With accreditation from UKAS all the inspections are designed to ensure you are maintaining a safe, reliable and legal fleet operation.

You will benefit from

  • reports to help you manage the maintenance of your fleet
  • facility to benchmark your business against industry and national standards
  • early detection of defects
  • correct wear and tear evaluation
  • reduced maintenance costs and increased reliability

What types of van inspection does FTA offer?

  • Roadworthiness - covers all items on the statutory annual test and reports on any items contravening the minimum standards
  • Maintenance - covers all items contained in a roadworthiness inspection but the report provides information about all the components reviewed, and a state of condition is given, thus allowing pre-planning for future repair and remedial works
  • Topside - a walk around inspection reports back on the more cosmetic condition of the vehicle, ensuring that your vehicles are projecting the right public image
  • Weight checks - ensures that your vehicles are not operating illegally through axle or complete vehicle overloading
  • Ancillary equipment - inspections of equipment such as tail lifts, cranes and specialist bodies
  • End of lease - an independent inspection reviewing the vehicle condition at lease expiry. An optional repair estimate can also be included
  • Pre-contract extension - an independent inspection on behalf of the operator or supplier of hired/leased vehicles prior to the decision to extend the hire period

"National Grid utilises FTA's Van Inspections to give an independent focus on overall vehicle condition, safe compliant operation and multi site fleet management. The valuable support, trend analysis and specific information issued by FTA provides advance notice of operational issues."
