How the weekly prices are calculated

Bulk contract diesel prices are usually on a two-week time lag from Rotterdam prices, so any change in the commodity price will not be felt for another fortnight.

The weekly bulk and spot prices we publish on this web page are an average of weekly, fortnightly, half-monthly, monthly and fixed contracts provided by leading energy market analysts, Accenture, and are reproduced on this web page with their permission.

Accenture derives pricing information from their survey of end users (based upon real prices paid by their clients), which is the basis for their database. As the survey is of end users it includes delivery margin. The end users are from a wide range of large, medium and small organisations. In order to account for differentials in price from large to small operators, the prices are weighted accordingly.

Notes for readers

The fuel prices shown above are indicative prices. When negotiating contracts many factors are taken into account, such as payment terms and length of contract. There may be regional variations as the prices shown are UK averages.

All prices are exclusive of VAT.
