FTA is represented on a number of police and industry groups including JAGOLT (the Joint Action Group On Lorry Theft) and TruckWatch. This bulletin is circulated to members as part of our commitment to support the police in their work against lorry and load theft.

Christmas is coming! Additional drivers, hired-in vehicles, new rosters and routes all provide theft possibilities for opportunists if companies do not stay on their guard. Drivers are reminded of the golden rule - to only accept changes in their delivery or collection instructions from those they know in their own traffic offices. And traffic office staff are also reminded to be aware of bogus callers seeking information on vehicle movements.

RHA Security seminar postponed

Members will remember we circulated contact details of this event in the last Theft Alert! bulletin.

Due to a number of contributing factors, the RHA has now taken the decision to postpone its Security Seminar which was scheduled to take place on 13 November 2007. This will now be held on 11 March, 2008 at Towcester Racecourse, Northamptonshire.

Suspicious vehicle

At around 20.40 hours on 9 October 2007, on the A421 from Buckingham to Milton Keynes, the driver of a Cadbury's hgv became aware of a following vehicle.

The vehicle tailed him for 11 miles and flashed its headlights at the lorry on several occasions, despite the driver making U-turns at a number of traffic islands.

The vehicle registration was taken as N46 DKL.

The vehicle has no police reports and is a blue Rover 420 saloon.
