FTA acquires Tachodisc Ltd

Friday 29 April 2016

TDUK Limited (‘TDUK’), a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Freight Transport Association (FTA), has today announced that it has acquired the business and certain assets of Warrington-based Tachodisc Limited.

TDUK takes control of the business and certain assets with immediate effect and FTA’s Director of Operations, June Powell, will oversee the business. Staff and customers of Tachodisc Limited, which specialises in the compliance of tachograph rules and laws, are being informed of the new arrangements after the company went into administration this week. The business will continue to trade under the new name TDUK Ltd.

FTA Chief Executive David Wells said: “I am delighted to be able to announce that FTA has acquired the business and certain assets of Tachodisc Limited, which fits well with FTA’s current services and operation. This acquisition will help ensure the industry remains compliant.”

The Freight Transport Association can trace its origins back to 1889 and is recognised as the voice of the freight and logistics industry, representing the transport interests of companies moving goods by road, rail, sea and air. FTA members operate over 220,000 goods vehicles - half the UK fleet - consign over 90 per cent of the freight moved by rail and 70 per cent of sea and air freight.
