Van Excellence members sweep the board at Fleet Van Awards Mon Dec 10 16:38:00 GMT 2012

Members of FTA Van Excellence have swept the board at the Fleet Van Awards 2012, with both operators and partners of the scheme picking up an impressive number of honours.

Several Van Excellence partners were nominated in a variety of categories at the prestigious awards ceremony held in London last week, which saw many walk away with trophies - including SHB who won Van Rental Company of the Year, and Fiat Fiorino which took City Van of the Year. Volkswagen won three trophies on the day – the first being for Fleet Van Manufacturer of the Year, with the Volkswagen Caddy taking first for Small Van of the Year whilst the Volkswagen Transporter drove away with Medium Panel Van of the Year. Van Excellence partner Ford was equally as jubilant, bagging the award for Green Van Manufacturer of the Year and its Ford Ranger picked up Pick-up Truck of the Year and Commercial Vehicle of the Year, with the prize for Large Panel Van of the Year going to the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter.

Van Excellence operators were also well represented as winners at the awards, with South Central Ambulance Service coming first in the Large Public Sector Fleet category and Balfour Beatty winning the Innovation in Fleet Safety award. Wakefield and District Housing saw its their service recognised by winning Small Public Sector Fleet. In the Fleet Safety Champion of the Year public category Van Excellence operator NHS Blood & Transplant triumphed, whilst in the private category first prize was given to Enterprise.

The growing importance of Van Excellence continues to be acknowledged within the freight industry, with so many of its members achieving recognition for their work by being nominated in so many categories; included were Nissan, Isuzu, Fiat, LeasePlan, GE Capital Fleet Service, BT Fleet, Arval, Iron Mountain, ATS Euromaster and GreenRoad, who all reached the final stages of the awards.
