FTA delivering the Olympics Thu Jul 26 11:31:00 BST 2012

Described as the biggest peace-time logistical event in the world, London has long been preparing for the Olympics. Now as it heads rapidly towards the starting line of the Games, the logistics industry has been stepping up a gear in readiness for the changes the event will bring to the roads around the capital.

FTA has been supporting its members in planning for the Games by working closely with Transport for London (TfL), the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) and the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) to help shape the Olympic transport plans and to continue to provide information throughout the event.

With the Games lanes and Olympic Route Network (ORN) now in place throughout London, coupled with the re-phasing of traffic lights, the roads have become increasingly busy, so what plans have members put in place?

FTA joined DHL who work in partnership with Iceland on a delivery to central London to discover how prepared they are.
