FTA and IRTE make common aims official at CV Show

Wednesday 13 April 2011

A bilateral agreement was signed by the bosses of the Freight Transport Association (FTA) and the Institute of Road Transport Engineers (IRTE) this morning at the CV Show.

The Memorandum of Understanding will see FTA and IRTE working together on the production and delivery of a joint-workshop accreditation scheme. Under IRTE Workshop Accreditation, FTA engineers will audit workshops to give transport operators the ability to buy maintenance provision with confidence.

Theo de Pencier, CEO of FTA, said:

"Today's MoU is the culmination of a good deal of work between both organisations. With around 80 per cent of maintenance provision for LGVs outsourced, this is a logical step that will yield excellent results for the industry."

Nick Jones, Chief Executive of IRTE, said:

"With so much at stake, companies need more than ever assurances that they are getting the standard of workshop service they expect. Our joint cooperation will afford buyers of maintenance provision with a degree of confidence that has been sorely lacking until now."
