FTA members help Transaid make a difference

Monday 30 November 2009

The Freight Transport Association is giving its members the option to make a donation to international development charity Transaid along with their annual FTA membership fees.

Transaid aims to reduce poverty and change lives in Africa and other developing countries through building local skills and knowledge to make transport cheaper, safer, cleaner and more effective. It does this by working with the UK transport and logistics industry, governments and other organisations.

Transaid provides help with professional driver training, improving the management and maintenance of vehicle fleets for local market traders and ministries of health, and implementing emergency transport systems so people can gain access to vital healthcare.

Pippa Attwood, FTA’s General Manager – Membership and Marketing, said:

“The donation which FTA members are making will hopefully make a big difference to those who are most in need in some of the world’s poorest countries. FTA is proud to support the outstanding work that Transaid is doing and we wish them every success.”

Notes for Editors

FTA parent company members will be given the option to make a £10 donation to Transaid with their annual membership fees.
