When drivers are operating in increasingly congested urban centres, delays can disrupt delivery schedules, cause problems in drivers' hours rules, waste fuel and can ultimately result in customer dissatisfaction. Modern telematics systems can however provide benefits by reducing journey time, reduce distances travelled and improve both fleet management and driver behaviour. The use of technology in transport can also assist operators in reducing carbon dioxide emissions by helping them to improve productivity and efficiency through the use of routeing and scheduling software.
