Health and safety

Health and safety should form the basis of every aspect of your operation, from loading vehicles and moving goods to manoeuvring vehicles and site layouts. Operators need to ensure there are preventive measures within their organisation to reduce the likelihood of accidents and everyone should take responsibility for their own safety as well as each other’s. There should be procedures in place to record any accidents that do happen and also near-misses.

Health and safety inadequacies can impact on your organisation’s reputation and it’s not just about putting up signage or having a health and safety manual. Training and educating your employees to be safety aware should be continuous. Days lost due to accidents, injury and illness can impact on your organisation’s productivity and potentially its’ image.

FTA operates, in partnership with the Health and Safety Executive, a series of initiatives on workplace transport safety. The Association also provides a range of products and services to improve health and safety. For more information, please use the Operator tools below.
