The logistics industry keeps Britain moving, make sure the next stop isn't the job centre

Successive fuel duty increases and hikes in Government agency fees are putting extreme pressure on businesses trying to survive through the recession. Jobs are being put at risk because of these increases, which are adding £1,500 on to the running costs of each and every truck.

The Every Penny Counts campaign is calling on the Government not only to rethink these increases but to stop any plans they may have to increase duty AGAIN at the Budget on 22 April. Last year alone, the number of HGV drivers claiming Jobseekers’ Allowance went up by 236 per cent, transport managers by 114 per cent and van drivers by 60 per cent. If the Government goes ahead with further increases, those numbers are going to rise yet further.

The recession is already hitting the industry hard: don’t let the Government land the killer punch. Please send a postcard to your MP and support the Every Penny Counts campaign.
