Logistics UK supporting Transaid

We're proud to support Transaid, an international charity that seeks to reduce poverty in some of the world's poorest countries by investing in transport. Transport is essential for life but the reality for many of the poorest people across Africa and the developing world is that access to transport is poor, inadequate or non-existant.

Transaid, an international development charity, recognises that transport knowledge is absolutely essential to the smooth running of any project involving movement of goods or people. Transaid seeks to identify, champion, implement and share local transport solutions to improve access to basic services and economic opportunity for people in Africa and in developing countries.

Transaid combines the expertise of the European transport and logistics industry with the charity’s long experience of working in the developing world to advocate and tackle transport related issues from the grassroots to the policy level. The charity partners with local communities, governments, donors and other organisations to achieve its aims and to facilitate the exchange of skills and knowledge. This collaborative approach enables Transaid to provide innovative solutions to some of the key challenges facing transport and development today.

Transaid's work is focused primarily in Africa but it has also conducted projects in parts of Asia, including Sri Lanka (post-tsunami), Cambodia and Bangladesh. Transaid aims to make an impact in the following areas: road safety, access to healthcare and access to livelihoods. Transaid was founded by Save the Children and The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport and our Patron is HRH The Princess Royal.
