I started my position as an Area Engineer in the North Kent and South London region in May 2003.
My role consists of inspecting a variety of vehicles from milk floats to articulated vehicles, from ambulances to refuse vehicles. I also undertake LOLER and PUWER inspections of tail lifts and cranes. I ultimately aim to assess the roadworthiness of vehicles. I carry out Operator Licence Compliant Auditing, insuring that members' electronic and paper records are complying with legal legislation.
Being out in the field the job never gets mundane. Unlike other similar occupations I am not confined to a single place. I take my work to an array of sites. I enjoy the independence that comes with this role and I am also proud to be part of a team dedicated to the profession, to colleagues and members.
In my six years with FTA I have liaised and built a good rapport with members and management alike, which I hope will continue for several years to come.
