International comparison of road networks

  • Compared to other devloped countries , the UK has a meagre amount of motorway relative to the number of cars registered.

Great Britain has only 2,204 miles of motorway which equates to 12,250 cars registered per mile of motorway!

  • Diesel fuel duty is twice that of the rest of Europe. UK diesel duty is 50.35p per litre compared to an EU average of 23p per litre (29ppl in France, 29ppl in Italy and 23ppl in Belgium)
