Delivering goods safely

  • Out of all UK industry categories the transport and communications sector had the third highest injury rate to employees in 2005/6 at 1,500 non-fatal injuries per 100,000 people. Lorries have to deliver and collect goods from many locations that are potentially hazardous. Typical accidents involve slips, trips and falls

Foreign vehicles are more likely to be overloaded and drivers more likely to be in breach of EU drivers’ hours rules than their UK counterparts
